Seminaries, universities teach Sahifa Sajjadiya

A member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom emphasized the need to teach Sahifa Sajjadiya at Islamic seminaries.

Hawzah News Agency (Qom, Iran) - In an interview with Hawzah News Agency, Ayatollah Mohammad Hassan Mamdoohi offered condolences on the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Sajjad (AS) and stated, "Imam Sajjad (AS), alongside his great aunt Hazrat Zainab (SA), played a distinctive role in advancement of the Ashura movement.”  “This significant historical role should be restated and explained to all people,” he added.

Member of the Society of Seminary Teachers of Qom further said, “After the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), Imam Sajjad (AS) endeavored very hard to keep the remembrance of oppressed martyrs of Karbala alive in the society and in order to do so he used the way of prayers and tears, as severe repression prevailed during his era and Imam could not talk to the people in an explicit manner.”

“Now, his noble book, Sahifa Sajjadiya, has been left behind for us, which contains the most excellent ethical and theological themes in the form of prayers and supplications,” the seminary professor noted.

Ayatollah Mamdoohi concluded, “I suggest that Sahifa Sajjadiya be taught at the Islamic seminaries, and that teachers pay more attention to this great book, not only at seminaries, but also at universities and other higher education centers.”

End.
